要旨Notch4 has been reported to be associated with schizophrenia. Neuron-specific deletion of RBP-J enhanced dopamine responsiveness and reduced dopamine release in the striatum. RBP-J-mediated regulation of dopamine responsiveness might suggest the possible
involvement of Notch/RBP-J signaling in schizophrenia. RBP-J-mediated regulation of dopamine responsiveness might suggest the possible involvement of Notch/RBP-J signaling in schizophrenia.
However, it remains to be elucidated how Notch4 increases the risk of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is characterized by cortisol level alteration, and affects stress reactivity.
To elucidate the effects of Notch4 deficiency on Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal axis, we examined the pituitary structure of Notch4-deficient mice. We would like to discuss the possible roles of Notch4 in the pathogenesis of schizophrenia.
