Summer Cool Conservation Campaign 2012

Working together to conserve electricity at home and at work

The Kansai Electric Power Company is forecasting electricity shortages this winter if it is unable to resume operations at nuclear power plants that have been taken offline for inspections.

Amidst these circumstances, Shiga Prefecture would like to ask for your continued support in conserving electricity at home and at work during the following times.

  1. Set your air conditioner to 28°C.
  2. When possible, use fans instead of air conditioning.
  3. Lower the temperature of your refrigerator to medium, reduce the length of time the door is open, and do not overstuff with food.
  4. Turn off unnecessary lighting.
  5. Turn off electronics using the power switch instead of by remote control.
  6. Unplug electronics that are not used regularly.
